To change the password for your ONE account, open the SpiderOak ONE application running on your computer (not a mobile device, not the website). Confirm that it reports that you are connected, then navigate to the account window. Press the Edit button next to your password and enter a new password. We also strongly recommend adding a password hint for your account. Once you have settled on your new password, choose 'OK' to commit the change to your upload queue. You will notice that SpiderOak ONE goes to work for a while: it is changing your encryption keys. Then it uploads the new encryption keys to our servers. This process may take a few minutes.
Because of the encryption involved, changing your password is not instantaneous. First, the SpiderOak ONE application on your computer must encrypt a new nested set of encrypted keys to protect not just your password but all your data. On hard working computers this might take a little while. The SpiderOak ONE application will indicate that it is working during this time. Then those keys have to be uploaded to your account's cluster, and depending upon your Internet connection and how much of the bandwidth is in use by other things, this too might take a while. Again, the SpiderOak ONE application will indicate what it is doing. Once the keys have been uploaded to your account's cluster, then they have to propagate. This is usually quick, but we recommend waiting a moment to be on the safe side. So when you change your password, be sure to let the application finish uploading the keys, then wait two minutes more before testing the new password.
