Trying to join a Team that's already been created? Go to Join a Team
A TEAM IS AN ORGANIZATION THAT ALLOWS YOU TO COMMUNICATE AND SHARE FILES WITH YOUR COLLEAGUES OR FRIENDS.
Think of a Team as the office building where everyone works. Inside that Team you can have meetings with an entire department, like #Sales, or one-on-one conversations in private. Channels are groups of Team members where everyone in the Channel can talk and share files. Direct Messages are private conversations that no one else can overhear, not even the team's admin.
The first step to collaborating is creating a Team where everyone can work together.
1. If you've just created your account, you can select the Create a Team button in the main window of Semaphor.
If you created your account earlier, or you're already a member of at least one team, click the blue ‘+’ near the top left corner in your Semaphor application window.
Then, in the dropdown menu, select ‘Create Team’.
2. When the Create Team window opens, choose a name for your new team. This could be the name of the company you are setting Semaphor up to be used with, or anything you want. Keep in mind other people will see this name when they join the team.
3. When you’ve chosen a name, select ‘Create Team’.
4. Once your new Team has been created, you will see the team name appear on the left side of the Semaphor window. If you click the blue dots to the right of your new Team name, you can select Team Options to view your new team’s information page.
From here you can see the Invite Code and URI of your team, the team directory, join requests, and billing information.
Invite Code: This long string of alphanumeric characters is how you can let others into your newly created team. This code is used when choosing to ‘Join a Team’. Send this code to people who need to join your new team and then skip to the Join a Team section of this guide. URI: This is a link that anyone with a Semaphor account can click to automatically request to join your Team. You can send this link to anyone who's already on Semaphor, and with a single click they'll send a join request.
Email Invite: This will automatically open your default email application (such as Outlook) and create a template invitation which includes the invite code and URI link for your Semaphor team. You can send this email to anyone you wish to invite to join your Team.
Team Directory: This is a list of all the users currently part of your team.
Join Requests: Here you can see requests by people not already members of the team asking your permission to join your team. Click “Approve” to add a member to your team. (Note: right now there are no notifications for join requests and once you add a member, you cannot remove them. Approve cautiously!) After you approve a member, they will appear under your User Directory.
Billing Information: Click this button to be taken to your personal billing page.
